Comments: Parents operated the hotel and Post Office in Cassel when it was first built. They sold the hotel in 1894 and moved to Tavistock. In January 1919 he returned to the family home for a celebration.
As a young man he learned the tailoring trade with the late Frederick Krug. Leaving Tavistock he worked at his trade in Hamilton. He served overseas with the 91st Highlanders Battalion and was also a member of the band of that unit. Prior to leaving Tavistock he was a member of the Tavistock Band under the leadership of George Kneisel. An athelete, he played both hockey and football with Tavistock Teams.
