After the War: Mixed farming (Shorthorn cattle, pigs, chickens, geese, ducks); planted orchard; kept 30 hives of bees. Bought and sold 40 acres in Florida.

Comments: A large colour photo of Sergeant Schaefer was prominently displayed in the Schaefer farm residence parlour until the farm was sold in 1952. It remains as a family heritage item as part of the treasured Schaefer Collection.
