Tavistock Gazette April 19, 1923 The Horticultural Society were granted permission to plant flower beds surrounding the memorial drinking fountain which will be erected in the near future, on the public square.
Aug 23, 1923 The fountain to be erected on the public square has arrived, and will be put in place shortly. Already trenches have been dug and pipes laid to supply the fountain with water. A large electric light will also be placed at the top of the fountain. The funds for the fountain, it will be remembered, were raised at the warden’s garden party as all the proceeds went towards its purchase. Although the proceeds did not amount to the full cost of the fountain yet the cost to the village will be negligible considering the good appearance the fountain will give the public square.
September 6, 1923. The fountain on the village square, has now been erected and received a coat of white paint. Although not in use as yet it is expected to be in the near future. The fountain presents a very neat appearance and is a decided improvement to the former bare appearance of the square. The money derived from Ex-Warden Baechler's garden party covers the biggest portion of the cost of the fountain.
Sept 20, 1923 The cost of the fountain on the village square, which has caused so many people to wonder about, amounted to $328.
It was moved in August 2018 as there was construction on Woodstock St., S. and returned to the center of Tavistock September 2018. Ron Wiffen and Steve Cahill from the Tavistock Men's Club moved it and returned it to where it had been.
