John Caister (1820-1902)

Born in Kent County, England. Came to Canada with family at age 12 and settled on a farm near Woodstock.
Moved to farm (Lot 28, Con. 12, East Zorra) where father, Caleb Caister arrived with 10 children on New Year's Day, 1837.

Two sons had been up preceding fall and had built a log shanty. At that period of East Zorra's history the road was not open all the way from Woodstock.
1848-49 bought farm on 11th line until 1880 when he moved to Tavistock.

Married Elizabeth Harrington in 1844 (d. 1864) then in 1866 married Mrs. George Kalbfleisch (d. 1891).
