Conrad Stock (1827-1905)

Born January 19, 1827 in Wallersdorf, Kreis Asfeld Hesse Darmstadt.

In 1841 when a boy of fourteen he came to America with his parents, the family settling in North Easthope. In 1849 he purchased Lot 31, Concession 16, East Zorra, on which he resided until his death. In March 1850 he married Helena Margaret Plaetzer by whom he had a family of twelve children three of whom died in infancy. He took an interest in all matters pertaining to the welfare of the people, serving continuously in the East Zorra council for ten years. In Politics he was a staunch Liberal. The funeral to the Lutheran cemetery, which is on the old homestead, will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. The services will be conducted by Rev. F. Veit of Sebastopol, pastor of the sixteenth line church of which congergation the deceased was a lifelong member. [Tavistock Gazette, October 19, 1905]
